Situated in the Cordillera Blanca, the world's highest tropical mountain range, Mount Huascarán rises to 6,768 m above sea-level. The deep ravines watered by numerous torrents, the glacial lakes and the variety of the vegetation make it a site of spectacular beauty. It is the home of such species as the spectacled bear and the Andean condor.

Huascarán National Park is located in the Cordillera Blanca Range, in the Sierra Central of the Peruvian Andes. The park covers the most of the Cordillera Blanca, the highest tropical mountain range in the world. It has 27 snow-capped peaks 6,000 m above sea level, of which El Huascarán (6,768 m) is the highest.

Lima named Latin America’s most attractive city
Lima, Jul. 10. Lima tops the list of the most attractive cities in Latin America and the Caribbean, according to the fourth annual MasterCard Global Destination Cities Index released on Wednesday.

The index revealed that the Peruvian capital is expected to receive 5.11 million visitors this year, which represents a 4.1% growth over 2013. This translates into an injection of US$1.80 billion in the city's economy.
Rounding out the top ten most popular cities in the region are Mexico City, Mexico; São Paulo, Brazil; Buenos Aires, Argentina; San Jose, Costa Rica; Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; Bogota, Colombia; Montevideo, Uruguay; Quito, Ecuador.
